Privacy Policy
This policy explains what AskPDF (the "App") collects, why, and what you can do about it. We keep it short and literal.
1. What we collect
- Documents you upload. PDFs you choose to upload are stored in Google Cloud Storage (Firebase) under your account so the App can answer questions about them. We extract their text to process your requests. We never read your documents for any other purpose and never use them to train AI models.
- Your questions and generated content. Chats, summaries, flashcards and quizzes are stored in Firebase Firestore under your account.
- Account identifiers. The App signs you in anonymously with Firebase Authentication. We store a random user ID, a device identifier (used only to prevent free-credit abuse), and your language setting. We do not require a name, e-mail address or phone number.
- Purchases. Subscriptions and credit packs are processed by Apple or Google and RevenueCat. We receive purchase status and product identifiers, never card details.
- Usage analytics and crash data. We use Mixpanel and Firebase Analytics to understand which features are used (events such as "document uploaded" or "quiz completed"), and Firebase Crashlytics for crash reports. These contain your random user ID and device information, not the content of your documents.
- Advertising. Free users may watch rewarded ads served by Google AdMob, which may use the advertising identifier subject to your consent (App Tracking Transparency on iOS).
2. How AI processing works
Text extracted from your document and your question are sent to our AI provider (DeepSeek) through our own servers to generate an answer. The provider processes the request to return a response and does not receive your identity. Only the text needed for the request is sent.
3. Legal bases and purposes
We process data to provide the service you request (contract), to prevent abuse and keep the service secure (legitimate interest), for analytics (legitimate interest, or consent where required) and for advertising (consent).
4. Retention and deletion
Your documents and generated content stay until you delete them in the App or delete your account. You can delete individual conversations (which removes the PDF and everything generated from it) or use Remove all data in Settings. Analytics data is retained by our providers for up to 24 months. Contact us to request deletion of anything else.
5. Sharing
We share data only with the processors named above (Google Firebase, DeepSeek, RevenueCat, Mixpanel, Google AdMob, OneSignal for push notifications) and only to operate the App. We do not sell personal data.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live (including the EU/EEA, UK, Türkiye under KVKK and California), you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your data, and to object to or restrict processing. Write to info@applora.io and we will answer within 30 days.
7. Children
The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the age required by your country) and we do not knowingly collect their data.
8. Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Google Cloud. Access to your documents is restricted to your account by server-side security rules.
9. Changes
We will post updates here and change the effective date. Material changes are announced in the App.
